IN THE NEWS
NYT Style is predicting trends for 2024 including “What plant or flower will we fall in love with?”
“People will always buy plants merely because they like how they look but, increasingly, gardeners are choosing plants that serve more than the human eye, that are better for insect life. Like Eupatorium maculatum [spotted joe-pye weed], Asclepias tuberosa [butterfly weed] and species of echinacea [coneflower], aster and eryngium [sea holly]. Plants are a big part of how we can heal ourselves.” — Piet Oudolf, 79, garden designer

Seasonal Squash Dip
Simple as all get-out, delicious bc obv, and featuring Big Bold Health’s (new and brilliant) HTB Sprout Powder, which uplevels everything—as a blend-in and/or topping to savory dishes especially. It’s a sprouted Himalayan Tartary Buckwheat dusting that increases digestibility and fiber content—and may be the easiest way to get something sprouted into every day.
RECIPE
1/2 seeded roasted squash (I used butternut)
1/2 C yogurt
1 TBSP tahini
2 servings of Big Bold Health’s HTB Sprout Powder (discount below)
For topping: Hemp seeds, pumpkin seeds, whatever your heart desires. (I also added smoked paprika and flaky salt.)
Serve with fresh vegetables, sourdough, cassava flats (my fav!), etc.
Preheat oven to 350 F. Brush squash with olive oil, add salt & pepper; roast for 25 min or until soft. Let cool. Add squash, yogurt, tahini and salt to a high speed blender. Pour into bowl, garnish, and enjoy!
