Supernatural News | extinction risks, our latest press, a matcha shake recipe
The weeds I’m in lately ...
Supernatural News is a publication about herbalism and holistic health, the industry of wellbeing, and resources from Pharmakon Supernatural. Aka: The weeds I’m in lately. In inboxes since 2015.
IN THE NEWS
I’m currently tracking three threads: AI, democracy, and climate change. Which currently appear tied as extinction risks.
A bright spot: Sheila Heti in conversation with the chatbots.
Otherwise, currently (finally) reading The Business of Botanicals, “A fascinating and provocative investigation into the global business of herbal products—asking whether it delivers on its healing promise to consumers, suppliers, and the environment.”
… while going heavy on Apothekary’s wine-inspired tincture for tension and anxiety: Take the Edge Off.

RECIPE: Iced Vanilla Matcha Shake*
Summer is my favorite season by a long shot because I can’t not leap outside when it’s warm. I’ll do everything out there: exercise, meditate, take calls, read ... Naturally, when the temps increase, so do my quenching drink recipes. What’s especially cool about this one is that while it’s iced, it contains warming spices, and functional mushrooms, which I love for focus, energy, immunity, and more.
In this MUD\WTR :rise Matcha* and mushroom blend, we get an antioxidant infused combination of matcha and chai, with L-theanine (promotes focus and relaxation) plus caffeine from that gorgeous matcha (a fractional equivalent of a cup of coffee). Hashtag calm energy. Cheers to keeping cool and carrying on.
RECIPE (watch the video, here)
Optional: Make-ahead matcha ice (make with water, not milk)
In a blender, combine: A serving of MUD\WTR :rise Matcha,*
½ banana, ½ tsp vanilla, a date or three; 8 oz milk (I used oat).
Blend well! Serve over ice! Be well!
*15% off MUD\WTR’s :rise Matcha (and everything else!) with code RACHELLE
