could eat this breakfast every day forever

I’ve always wanted to be an athlete in another life. Structuring days around movement and recovery—and training in order to extend the boundaries of physical capabilities—appeals to me more and more as time goes by. There’s much more to say about this, and perhaps I’ll write about it soon, but meanwhile I get to share the refueling that lead to the strongest system I’ve ever had. Caveat: I was expending so much energy on a daily basis that for the first time in my life, I had to eat as much as possible. We’re talking three breakfasts, two lunches, and as much dinner as my belly would permit. In chatting with another surfer friend of mine, I discovered that nodding off while waiting for the second lunch was also common, lol. (There were lots of naps along with the lots of eating.) That recipe, followed in a blue zone, yielded off-the-charts health—from muscle tone I’ve never seen before (despite daily workouts in NYC, and zero in Costa Rica), to endurance that soared. The first couple weeks of the trip, I was hardly able to stand at the end of the day—exhausted by the exertion. By the end, I danced while making dinner. Let’s eat!
